The best burger joints in Dijon
Foodies
12 rue François Rude, Dijon and 6 Rue Faubourg Raines, Dijon
A long time Dijon favourite, nay a Dijon institution, and a regular on The Pinot Front Row burger roster. The burgers are decadent and filling, with a real French twist (Burgundy burger anyone?). Not convinced – Foodies won first place in the World Burger Contest at the SIRHA 2023 show! They now have two locations in Dijon, one in the centre and the other just opposite the Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie et du Vin, as well as a roaming food truck. As iconic as Dijon owl!
Les Friands Disent
2 Rue Monge, Dijon
A cosy and hospitable restaurant in Dijon well known for its burgers. Even though the restaurant extends downstairs it can still get busy, although the staff are friendly and accommodating. The burgers are indulgent and, if you opt for the double, quite sizeable. Les Friands Disent is slightly more upmarket than the normal burger joint so you can expect some quality wines to go with the food, and there’s plenty of non-burger options on the menu as well. The sophisticated option for a burger in Dijon.

Alfred Burgers & Vins
36-38 Rue Monge, Dijon
A solid option for a burger in Dijon in an uncluttered and trendy restaurant near Place Emile Zola. The outside tables are the ones you want during the warmer months to enjoy the world passing by in a lively part of the city. The burgers are appetizing and high quality, made from local ingredients, and they also change with the season. And as the name suggests there’s a decent selection of natural wines and regional craft beers to accompany a good burger. A great choice for a casual burger in Dijon.

The Californian
Place de la Republique, Dijon and 139 Avenue Jean Jaures, Dijon
Typically when you visit a new city and there’s a food kiosk at the main square its often a tourist trap rather than an option for quality food. The Californian in Dijon, however, definitely bucks this trend with a good range of food that’s satisfying without overdoing it. Located prominently in Place de la Republique, very close to The Pinot Front Row’s apartment no less, it’s an unlikely choice for a decent burger in Dijon. Indeed, so enamoured with this local burger stand are the Dijon locals that The Californian opened a permanent restaurant in Jean Jaures, slightly outside of the main center. Enjoying life taking place around Le Monument à Sadi Carnot on a nice day with a Californian burger is hard to beat.
